Josiane Balasko

This year’s Jury is to be presided by French actress/director/writer Josiane Balasko. No need to introduce one of France’s most famous movie stars : Josiane Balasko began her career writing and performing with She made her feature filmThe Splendid, a theater group in Paris. debut in 1976 and has gone on to become a popular actress - even playing Eddie in a French feature film based on the Ab Fab UK TV hit! In 1985, Balasko made her directorial debut with All Mixed Up. Most recently she has written, directed and acted in the film French Twist (1995), which was awarded a César for Best Screenplay. Josiane Balasko also adapted two of her plays for the big screen : Un Grand Cri d’Amour (1998) and The Ex-Love of my Life (2005). The year 2006 was also a busy one, as she took up the part of Nathalie for the third time in Les Bronzés 3, Friends Forever; and the publishing of her novel Parano Express. This year, for our greatest pleasure, we’ll be able to see her as Stephanie in Gypo director Jan Dunn’s new feature Ruby Blue.
