Several interviews made in London, Paris and Dinard during the British Film Festival were
needed to complete this film. Frears talks about his childhood in Nottingham, his discovery of theatre and cinema, his studies in Cambridge, and those who helped him from the beginning : filmmakers Lindsay Anderson and Karel Reisz, and actor Albert Finney.
